What is a Sharing God’s Love Weekend?

It is a Weekend at your church for the whole church family, with a low-key, gentle approach.

It is led by a team of visiting lay people, who share some of their experiences as Christians. It is an opportunity to explore the work and witness of the church and for individuals to examine their relationship with Jesus.

This Weekend is a time of sharing. We ask the church as a whole, and members as individuals, to share a spiritual stocktaking over the Weekend in assessing where they stand in relation to the Christian faith, and to think about why their church engages in its various activities.

We hope to get church members to know one another at a greater depth. We encourage them to share with us, and therefore with each other, what their faith means to them. We want to bring people into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ, and to bind the church family into a loving caring community; which is ready for outreach.

What results are expected?

Often, a fresh and more exciting relationship with Jesus is found, resulting in a desire for regular fellowship, prayer and bible study groups. Weekends have brought a renewed enthusiasm and commitment. Broken relationships have been healed.

The results of a Weekend often include:
Increased fellowship and love for one another	Reconciliation between individuals and groups
More Bible study, fellowship and prayer groups	Gaining a closer relationship with Jesus Christ
The discovery of new areas of service	A readiness and enthusiasm for outreach

What happens after a Weekend?

The Weekend is not an end in itself. Plans will need to be made to build on the benefits of the Weekend. About two years after a Sharing God’s Love Weekend, the Movement offers a follow-up Weekend called Living in God’s Love.
